Profit Margin Calculator
Calculate your real net profit and net margin after costs and fees—fast, transparent, and easy to verify.
Inputs
Enter per-order values. Percent fees are applied to selling price.
How it works
This calculator estimates net profit per order by subtracting (1) fixed costs per order such as product cost, shipping, and ad spend, and (2) percent-based fees that scale with your selling price (platform and payment fees). It then converts net profit into net margin.
Formula
Example
If price is $50, COGS is $15, platform fee is 15%, payment fee is 2.9%, shipping is $5, and ads are $10: percent fees = (0.15 + 0.029) × 50 = $8.95, fixed costs = $30. Net profit = 50 − 8.95 − 30 = $11.05. Net margin ≈ 22.1%.
FAQ
Does this include taxes?
No. Taxes vary by state and business setup, so they’re excluded.
Which platforms does this work for?
Amazon, Shopify, Etsy, Walmart Marketplace, and any platform with percent-based fees.
Why is my margin lower than expected?
Percent fees and ad spend often scale faster than expected and can erase profit quickly.
Can net profit be negative?
Yes. A negative result means you are losing money per order at that price and cost structure.
Is this calculator free?
